What do to with rising water levels from the Quill Lakes continues to be a hot topic.

An environmental group in the province is currently gathering signatures through an online petition to fight the diversion project.

The Saskatchewan Alliance for Water Sustainability says they are concerned about the salt content of the water from the Quill Lakes going into Last Mountain Lake.

Another factor for the group is pollution.

The group is planning on taking their petition to the federal government - one step further than concerned residents around the lake, who sent a petition to the provincial government in December.

The purpose of the project is to prevent flooding around the Quill Lakes, which has already severely damaged farmland.
