The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce has presented their final Courtesy Service Award for 2016.

They hand out the honour out quarterly, usually to the surprise of the recipient. Thursday afternoon, at the Uniplex was no different when Miles Engele was cornered by Leisure Services Manager Mike Ulriksen and Chamber Executive Director Crystal Young.

In the letter presented to Engele, the anonymous nominator said he went over above his call of duty.

"I recently inquired whether the City of Humboldt would plant trees in the boulevard across the street from our office. After the supervisor came over and chatted with me and decided that the City would plant the trees, Miles Engele has been very professional, and courteous in keeping in touch with me about the progress of the tree planting. He went out of his way to come and discuss the trees with me on the date they marked the place for the trees to be planted, he came back and talked to me again on the date they planted the trees, and most recently, when the City mulched around the trees and installed decorative grates, he stopped in to discuss the matter with me again and left me his cell phone number in the event that I had any questions or concerns. Throughout the entire process Miles has been absolutely diligent in keeping us informed about the progress of the project and he has been wonderful to deal with. It has truly been a pleasure! His courtesy and professionalism reflects well on the City of Humboldt and they should be very proud to have him as an employee."

The award winners receives a $50 gift certificate from any Chamber member plus a professional photo will be done by Reflections by Richard to hang at their workplace.
