Whether it is crossing the street safely, or helping others in the area be safe, emergency services in Humboldt will be looking for you throughout the summer.

Safe Communities Humboldt and Area has brought back their Positive Ticketing Campaign for a third straight year, as Executive Director Shari Hinz says.

"Choosing to wear helmets and proper gear whenever they're biking or skateboarding, using scooters," she explained. "Just really, making safe choices when they're out and about using our recreation areas, greenspaces, and using our walkways and sidewalks."

The program runs until June 15 before a one month break. Positive ticketing will return from July 15 to August 15.

Last year, Hinz says that they handed out 80 tickets, and this year, they are looking to up the ante.

"This year we have over 250 tickets available, so there is definitely lots of opportunities for area citizens to have a chance to be rewarded for displaying those safe behaviours."

Among the items you may receive for being 'caught' in the act of safety is, leisure passes, mini golf, Bronco tickets, bowling, ear buds, blankets, a flashlight and sunglasses.
