This past week the Government of Saskatchewan honoured over 140 exemplarily individuals that had spent at least 25 years in protective services.

Among the 144 recipients was Wynyard fire fighters John Baker, Doug Craig and Randy Johannesson, Clavet Fire and Rescue member Tim Frain as well as Naicam's Robin Parry, Carl Peterson, Ken Peterson and Stan Rude.

The 2016 recipients include fire fighters, corrections workers, Canadian Forces members, RCMP plus other detachments of police officers, conservation officers Canada Border Services Agency officers and other emergency medical responders.

The Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal was established back in 2003.

1,842 residents have been honoured.
