While there's not much to be done that will make child birth easier, the Saskatchewan government is trying to make the paperwork a bit easier.

EHealth Saskatchewan has partnered with Employment and Social Development Canada and Canada Revenue Agency to make it easier for parents to apply for federal and provincial benefits for their newborn children.

Susan Antosh, CEO of EHealth, said that instead of multiple applications for a birth certificate, SIN card, Canada Child Benefits, and a health card, the system will be streamlined.

"Our aim here was to make it as simple and easy for them as possible, it's basically a one page application form, they camn do any of those things that they want to with and they leave the hospital without any paperwork or any follow up that they have to do."

This will make things run a lot smoother than before said Antosh, "there was about a four page form to register the live birth and at the hospital they would set up a health card for you but if you actually wanted the actual health card you had to contact our office in order to get that, likewise if you wanted a birth certificate, you would need to go online or come into the office."

Antosh said that though the service is only available in paper form right now, they are moving to have everything online soon.
