Seeding in Saskatchewan is nearly complete according to this week's Saskatchewan crop report.

Farmers now have 99 percent of the crop in the ground around the province, the five year average for this time of year is 97 percent.

Rainfall this week was much needed to replenish topsoil moisture and for the advancement of crops.

Cropland topsoil moisture is now rated as seven percent surplus, 52 percent adequate, 35 percent short and six percent very short. Hay land and topsoil is rated as four percent surplus, 43 percent adequate, 41 percent short and 12 percent very short.

Crop development due to warm and wet weather has crops in fair to excellent condition.

Any damage to crops can be attributed to cutworms, flea beetles, localized flooding, hail, and lack of moisture.

The Melfort area had 15mm of rain over the past week, Birch Hills saw 5 mm, and there was 1 mm in Vonda.

19 incidents have been reported in June to SaskPower of equipment coming into contact with power lines, there have been 149 reports in total this year.
