2019 may still be 3 and a half months away, but time can fly by when you're busy, so the city council of Humboldt has already set a hopeful due date for next years budget.

Currently, Humboldt's budget is under a 5-year plan, but every year the council goes over the basic guidelines of the plan to see if any changes need to be made for this upcoming year. The Mayor stated that the council's plan is to get the budget done before Christmas.

"It's something that drags into March or April even. we just want to make sure that we get it done in time so that we can look at capitalizing on tendering earlier in the year where contractors don't have as much on their plate," said Rob Muench, Humboldt's Mayor.

One of the more popular subjects council looks over is if the tax needs to be raised in Humboldt or not. Last year Humboldt was fortunate to only get a slight increase as next years increase will be announced when the budget is released.
