The Ducks Unlimited banquet is a major fundraiser which helps them with their conservation projects.

Auctions, raffles and a meal are available for you Saturday night as Ducks Unlimited Humboldt holds their annual banquet.

New for this year's event, which is the 31st annual edition, is a gun an hour giveaway.

"We will have cocktails starting at six, supper at seven," noted Dave Atamanchuk with the Humboldt chapter. "We have a lot of different raffle games we play, a silent auction, live auction, and lots of giveaways."

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at Thrifty Mart or Humboldt Co-op C-Store.

"Its a fun night. We like to have a good time. Everyone comes out and supports DU, and enjoys it in the process."

Atamanchuk added that the fundraiser has become essential for the organization in sustaining their ability to work locally.

"This is one of the main ways Ducks Unlimited raises funds to do our conservation work in the area. I think we started in 1938 in Saskatchewan and just locally around Humboldt, we have spent millions of dollars with conservation projects."

Conservation plays a large role in what they do for projects, but a significant amount of the work done by Ducks Unlimited helps farmers as well.

"We work with local producers with hay. They hay the lands, we have rotational grazing systems set up with local guys that can graze them every so often. A lot goes back towards the farming community."

Other events supported by Ducks Unlimited includes their Greenwing Day, which allows children to enjoy a fun day while learning the importance of nature conservation.
