Farmers surrounding the community of Humboldt have not been getting an adequate amount of rain for crops.

Quill Lake farmer, Dwight Odelein estimated only about 4 inches of rain has come since the month of May.

"we could've used an inch or two a couple of weeks ago, the crop is actually holding in there not to bad. It's not gonna be last years crop, I'm hoping you know, 80 percent."

The dry crops are particularly in the southern and western parts of Saskatchewan.

"If it does not rain within the next week or 10 days it's not going to do it any good."

Odelein says with the dry weather could have a factor on when harvest season starts.

"I wouldn't be surprised if next week there is some of the earlier crop getting swathed, but the week after there will be some stuff happening in the field."

Although throughout the first week of August there are high chances of rain in Humboldt and the surrounding area, so not all hope is lost.
