Ladies of the Humboldt area are signing up to have a day of pampering while golfing and supporting local organizations.

The third Diva for a Day golf tournament is taking place on Saturday, June 3 at the Humboldt Golf Club.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt and the Humboldt Kinettes are teaming up to bring the truly unique event to golfers.

Amy Hogemann with BBBS says that it isn't like any other tournament.

"They not only get nine holes of golf, there is tons of fun activities and three meals for the day," she explained. "We have a couple different aspects to this tournament that make it very unique to this event. It's a lot more fun than a normal tournament."

Kinettes member Carol Pratt added that in addition to the entertaining activities, there is an opportunity to shop as well.

"We have a different activity on every hole. We have some vendors coming. Everything from jewelry and clothing to pilates and yoga. Also, some little games to tie into our theme."

The theme for this year is 'Fun in the Sun'.

Perhaps the best or most rewarding part of the day for the ladies is to have all of their requirements taken care of throughout the day.

A caddy auction begins the day with brunch, as local personnel can be bid on.

Hogemann says once you secure a caddy, they are at your service.

"Those caddies do things like buy you drinks, get your balls out of the deep bushes, tee up your balls, and give you any tips or anything else for the day. They're pretty much at your beck and call for the day."

The day long event concludes with supper and awards.

As of Thursday, there is still room for three more teams to enter this year's tournament. They are still looking for some more caddies as well.
