Despite all the efforts in public education, and the threat of large fines, the message about distracted driving does not seem to be reaching the people of Saskatchewan.

SGI released numbers Tuesday showing that police across the province issued a new record high number of distracted driving tickets in the month of November.

Throughout the month, 636 people were ticketed for distracted driving violations, with 554 citations for cell phone use.

In addition to the distracted driving tickets, November numbers show that police issued 302 tickets for driving while suspended or disqualified, 519 for vehicle registration issues and another 345 for being behind the wheel without a valid license.

With the holiday season upon us, December's focus is once again on impaired driving.
