Disc Golf Tournament Held In Wadena

A dozen participants came out to Wadena's first disc golf tournament on Saturday.

Organizer Mark Kienle said he spent last week grooming the temporary course at Battalion Park.

"You get a pretty good walk in when you do the nine holes. There's everything from throwing over a creek to throwing up beside the sledding hill."

In disc golf, participants try to throw specialized discs - smaller and denser than a normal Frisbee - into chain baskets.

Kienle hopes to make the tournament an annual event and start weekly point nights through the summer.

He's also a fan of the course at St. Elizabeth Park in Humboldt.
