A Humboldt business heard their name called out at the ABEX Awards in Saskatoon on October 21.

Diamonds of Detroit was the recipient of the Marketing award at the event, which showcases businesses across the province.

Owner Olivia Coffyne explained the reaction they had upon hearing the business called out as the winner.

"We really were just so excited. We weren't expecting it," she said. "We were so fortunate. We took all our staff and we were able to celebrate together that night."

The Achievement in Business Excellence Awards are handed out by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce on an annual basis.

Local chambers can nominate their winners for the provincial showcase.

Diamonds of Detroit was joined by Humboldt's Spotlight Sport & Corporate Wear in the category, along with Gold Eagle Casino, North Prairie Developments, North Ridge Developments, and WMCZ Lawyers.

Coffyne says that they market the business in many ways, including giving back to the community.

"We do all the traditional avenues of marketing, but we really try and go above and beyond with our marketing as well as customer service," she explained. "We try to give back to the community as much as possible by donating to different things and hosting events and just being an active community member."

She added that support from Humboldt and area has been vital to their success.

"I want to thank everyone, all our supportive customers and because of you guys, we are able to give back to all these events."

"I also want to say shoot big, believe in yourself and do what you truly love."

Diamonds of Detroit won the 2017 Marketing award at Humboldt's Mark of Excellence Awards. Coffyne was also named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the March gala.
