Continuing to raise awareness about safety within your community, Safe Communities Humboldt and Area offered their 7th Annual Ag Safety Day on Wednesday.

The day targets a younger audience not only with safety tips for the farm, but also around the house.

"Grade one through four students from HPS and Muenster school took part in eight different presentations, all based around home and farm safety," explained Safe Communities Humboldt and Area Executive Director, Tracey Shewciw.

She added the importance of developing safety habits in kids when they are young.

"We touch grade one through four students in this program because we like to reach the kids while their young, and get them thinking about injury prevention and safety when they're little, and get that agriculture safety in the household through them."

Presentations were made by community leaders and groups from the Humboldt and District Ambulance, Fire Department, Animal Health Clinic, Pharmasave, Prairieland Motorsports, SGI, and Canadian Red Cross.

"We offer recreation safety, home, 911, poisons, chemicals and prescriptions, animal safety, water, fire, agriculture equipment and PTO safety, as well as bicycle and helmet safety."

The Progressive Ag Safety program is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

It is also a landmark for the Humboldt branch of Safe Communities, as they celebrate ten years of promoting safety within the area.
