We are still in for a couple brutally cold days in Humboldt and the area but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Jason Knight gives us more details on how the rest of the week looks.

"The bitterly cold air is still in place over southern Saskatchewan, we're looking at a few more days of this," he said late Tuesday afternoon. "Looking at mid minus 30 to minus 40 range and continuing over the next few days but there is hope, next week it looks fairly nice. The warm up kicks in on Monday and we're back to near seasonable values for next week."

Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon will still remind us the cold Arctic air mass is still over the region but it will slowly start to break as the weekend draws closer.

"We're actually sitting under the coldest air pretty much on the continent right now," Knight added. "That's finally going to start sweeping eastward by the weeks end and a new low pressure system will develop well to the north and start to bring in warmer Pacific air."

Looking at the long range forecast, the area could even climb into single digit highs by Monday.
