The Humboldt and District Food Bank was once again pleased to get a boost from a local fitness centre.

Humboldt Curves had their annual food bank drive throughout the month of March, where they were able to collect 605 pounds of food.

Owner Danielle Saretsky says they have a simple way of bringing in donations.

"What we did to raise that food is people could give cash donations or they could donate a bag of food in exchange for the enrollment fee to sign up at Curves."

Saretsky added that it is an annual event that they hold.

"We've been doing this for about 15 years in Humboldt. It is a national thing that Curves does every March. This year we had a friendly competition with Gimli, Manitoba and unfortunately, we lost, but next year we will win."

Food Bank Chair Kevin Reiter was on hand to receive the donations from Curves and said that community support is always rewarding.

"It's such a great feeling to know the community is behind you and you're working in it and supporting a really good cause," he explained. "It's not only the financial support but the moral support. We know we have been really well supported by Curves. They've been doing this longer than I have been in Humboldt and it's good to know we have their support."
