Humboldt City Council has authorized spending up to $70,000 to replace the condenser at the Uniplex curling rink.

The unit started acting up this spring, leading to a buildup of ice, leisure services director Mike Ulriksen said.

“There were some seals that had started to go on it. So that was allowing the water in the top part of the condenser to get into the fan blades and was causing issues there.”

The project will be tendered, with the installation scheduled for October.
