Recognizing Drowning Prevention Week, the Town of Cudworth is holding activities throughout the week at their pool.

On average, there are around 20 fatal drownings per year, in addition to many other incidents. The Saskatchewan Life Saving Society says that the majority of drownings involve people not wearing life jackets.

All activities at the Cudworth Pool are from 1:00 to 5:00pm during public swimming.

Wednesday's event is swim with a buddy, where you can bring a friend for free.

On Thursday, swim to survive certificates will be handed out to those who complete the short course, while on Friday it is lifeguard day, where swimmers can test out their lifeguard skills.

Drowning Prevention Week is aimed to bring awareness to not only proper swim safety, but even safety on the boat, shoreline and backyard pools.
