A new phishing scam is circulating over your cellphone.

The scam asks potential or current customers of Conexus Credit Union to click a link to "login to their account" in order to stop it from deactivating.

"It is a scam. We just want people to know that we would never send out a (text) message like that to members to ask them to do anything related to their online banking," warns Senior Vice-President of Retail Banking, Jacques DeCorby. "As it relates to this one or any one in the future they should always contact us first. Anything that looks like this or looks suspicious that they should contact us."

An example of the scam text.

DeCorby suggests that if you do receive a message, you should delete it immediately.

If you or anyone you know has clicked the link, it is recommended that you contact your local Conexus branch immediately.

DeCorby says that Conexus will send alerts, but will never send a message that requires you to click a link.
