A new legislation was introduced in Saskatchewan and appears to be the first province in the country that will allow police or other authorities to warn people about potentially violent partners.

Clare's Law was first introduced in the UK after Clare Wood was murdered by a violent partner with an abusive past that she didn't know about.

Justice Minister Don Morgan hopes the new legislation will protect people from potentially dangerous situations, especially considering the fact that Saskatchewan has the highest rate of police-reported domestic situations in the country.

A panel will now review potential cases to decide if the risk is great enough or not to meet specific criteria to release the information about persons past. The panel and the criteria that needs to be met has not yet been decided.
