10 years ago Humboldt was nominated for Kraft Hockeyville and finished as one of the top five finalists.

Once again the city along with the Elgar Petersen Arena has been registered and is shooting for the top prize of 250, 000.

"The City of Humboldt would like to acknowledge and thank all those individuals who have registered the Elgar Petersen Arena online for the Kraft Hockeyville 2019 Competition, and for sharing their stories. Ten years ago, the EPA was a runner up in the 2009 competition, which generated high energy and enthusiasm in Humboldt. Looking back at some of the photos from that event and the rallying that took place, it’s heartwarming to see that we are the same community with a deep passion for the sport of hockey,” said Mayor Muench in a release provided on January 24th.

The EPA has been the center of the community for over 30 years.
