The City of Humboldt wants to hear your concerns.

That's why they have launched an app that allows residents to report issues to staff through their smart phones.

Director of Development Jennifer Brooks said after council's meeting Monday night that this is exactly the tool they were looking for.

"We needed to find a better system to be able to track issues that residents bring forward to us. Using SeeClickFix as a third party provider is a win-win for both of us in that we can encourage residents to be our eyes and ears out in the community."

Brooks covers what they hope the tool will provide to residents and staff.

"We really want residents to take a look around the community. Tell us of potholes, non-functioning traffic lights, cracks in the sidewalk, things that we can help improve as a city organization. Internally we use the app as a work order system in order to address those issues in a transparent way so that everyone knows that it's being addressed."

City staff will personally respond and interact through email regarding reported issues. Concerns can be forwarded anonymously as well.

Council received a tutorial Monday night at their meeting. Brooks says the tool is extremely beneficial for staff as well.

"There is a number of different ways we can use it and certainly the public works team is a great example of being able to use this type of mobile application in the field. We're also using it with our Community & Leisure Services department, our Corporate Services department for bylaw concerns, there is a number of different ways we can do it."

There is also more accessible information such as event and facility schedules, a one touch call-us button and more. Humboldt is the first centre in Saskatchewan to launch this type of app and only one of ten across Canada.
