More details are being released with some tweaks regarding the curbside pick-up program for both trash and recycling in Humboldt.

Already announced was that each household will receive a trash bin and recycling bin that will be collected from their curb but some alterations are now being proposed to council.

Some adjustments include any residential properties with three units or less will get bins and be charged $15 per month, the same as a home owner however complexes with more than three will be able to make arrangements with REACT for services. Their fee will not be the initial $10 a month that was originally proposed.

"We heard from concerned residents, consulted with REACT and made adjustments in implementing the new garbage and recycling service in an equitable way," City Manager Roy Hardy explained. "We also heard many positive comments from residents who are looking forward to this change."

The Waste and Recycling Collection and Disposal Bylaw will be formally introduced to council at their March 13th meeting, the public will be able to review it for a month.

The program is expected to be rolled out in June, until then the yellow garbage tags are still to be used.
