Humboldt City Council met one final time during their limited summer meetings on Monday night.

Typically, councillors and directors meet twice a month, but with an active summer that they too enjoy, the meetings take place once a month during the warmest time of the year.

Mayor Malcolm Eaton acknowledged the Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District for their work in organizing Streetfest, which was well-received by attendees. He also thank the city's CUPE representatives for working on terms on a contract agreement.

Councillor Roger Nordick added in recognition for the Humboldt Theatre Club, who had their first performance during the week of August 15.

During the meeting, Mayor Eaton proclaimed September as Big Brothers Big Sisters month in Humboldt. BBBS came to council asking for the declaration, as it coordinates with recognition of the month nationally.

Furthermore, September 11-18 has been declared as Pride Week in Humboldt, with a flag raising ceremony to be held at 12:15pm on September 12.

Other business taken care of included the appointment of Michael Ulriksen as Returning Officer for the Municipal Election, set to take place October 26.

City Manager Roy Hardy provided updates on current capital, land, growth and strategic planning projects, including the work being done on 5th Avenue, as well as the water distribution plant.

Council's next meeting will come on September 12.
