The budget for the 2019 year for the city of Humboldt has been approved.

As of December 20th, 2018, City Council has come to terms on the budget for the upcoming year. Council reached a unanimous vote to adopt the budget, with only 2 minor changes that had no impact on the proposed 2% tax increase.

In a statement provided by the City of Humboldt the 2% tax increase is approximately half the amount of other cities within the province, who have imposed tax increases of around 4.5%.

Rob Muench, Mayor of Humboldt, talked about the punctuality of the budget. "I'm proud of our City Manager, staff, and Council for their work on this budget." Muench continued, "In a year with so many external pressures on everyone, the budget was delivered before Christmas for the first time in Humboldt's history."

The approved budget will be on the city's website by noon on Monday, December 24th, 2018.
