On a rather chilly day, chili was the main food focus to raise funds for one local organization.

On January 30th, the employees at Discovery Ford in Humboldt teamed up, and a number of them brought their own home-made chili for the public. Starting at 11:30 AM, around 114 people were in attendance for the luncheon, and all proceeds went back into Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt.

Jodie Hergott, Development Coordinator with BBBS, was very proud of the way Humboldt showed its support for their organization.

"We put the proceeds back into our Bowl for Kid's Sake program specifically, and this is the second year running we could have the event. It was a great community event."

Hergott also talked about how important this is, and how it will help the youth of Humboldt.

"It is just very heartwarming that the employees themselves would take the initiative and do something like this. It's events like these that help to create a better life for our entire community, and especially our youth."

Close to 570 dollars was raised for Bowl for Kid's Sake. Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting the event in the first week of February.
