The internet towers at Carrot River, Naicam and Kelvington are among the 37 rural Saskatchewan installations set to receive upgrades by the end of March 2019.
SaskTel will spend around $4.6 million to add more LTE carriers to each of the towers, increasing their LTE data capacity by up to 100 per cent, according to a news release.
This added capacity will ensure that customers can continue to fully use their wireless devices without being slowed down by network congestion.
The federal government is adding another $12 million, which the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce applauds.
Faster internet in rural and remote areas is critically important to running businesses, CEO Steve McLellan said in a news release.
