With snow on the ground the Carlton Trail Ski Club will hold their first fitting of the 2016 season.

Brian Grest is an instructor for Carlton Trail Ski Club.

He gives us a few more details.

"At 3 o'clock we're heading out to our Dixon Clubhouse, which is Northwest of Humboldt. We offer free equipment to any of our members, to use for the season, and that's for recreational skiing as well as some of our programs."

Grest says the fitting is important for people just beginning.

"We're lucky enough to have a lot of equipment to lend out to people. A lot of people don't want to put out the investment to start off with $300-$500 worth of equipment just to find out they don't like the activity, so it's really important because it allows people to get their feet wet, and find out whether or not they like the activity or not."

Grest describes what the ski club does.

"We groom trails on the golf course right in town, we also groom trails out at Dixon, we have about 30km of trails out there. Beautiful, well treed, lot's of hills, one of the best Cross-country ski sights in Saskatchewan. The club offers lessons to anyone from ages 4-94, and we also offer the opportunity to take advantage of our groomed trails and get out skiing as much as you want, all winter long."
