While many celebrated Family Day at the Elgar Petersen Arena or outside, some also elected to help potentially keep families together on Monday.

Canadian Blood Services was in Humboldt once again to take donations from area residents.

"Everybody needs it or knows somebody who will need it at some point in their life," says Territory Manager Katherine Wasylynka. "Whether it's a car accident or a surgery or cancer patient, the need is always there and it's not going anywhere anytime soon."

Wasylynka says that sometimes people are thinking about donating, but aren't quite sure about the process.

"It's not a scary process and will only take a small amount of time for you to make a donation, which could help save someone's life."

CBS will be back in Humboldt on March 19 to take more donations.

Appointments can be booked in advance through blood.ca, or walk-ins are also welcome.
