With the Canada 150 Mural finally complete, the Mural committee as well as the City of Humboldt held a Dedication celebration in front of city hall yesterday.

The event was held to thank volunteers, donors and sponsors alike, as well as the public for getting on board with the project.

Mayor Malcolm Eaton was there, and he says the Mural looks great.

"I think it's just awesome. It's great to have it right here in the heart of downtown Humboldt, it's really noticeable, people are going to notice it, people already have, so I think it looks just great."

Mayor Eaton spoke at the Dedication Event.

He talks about the meaning of the Mural for Humboldt.

"I think there's a story here. Of course we're celebrating Canada's 150th Birthday next year and this is a kick off to that. It's a great way for us to get in the birthday party mood for Canada's 150th birthday. There's going to be a lot of activity and a lot of events in Humboldt and indeed throughout the country, but Humboldt's going to be celebrating for sure."

Mayor Eaton describes what he sees when he looks at the Mural.

"When you stand back and look at those 700 and some four-by-four tiles, you can find all of the elements of our community. The Agricultural side, the manufacturing side, the business community, the Broncos, youth sports. There's some very famous people, Glenn Hall, the Malinoski brothers, Brianne Thiessen-Eaton is on there."

Mayor Eaton was there giving a speech and cutting celebration cake in front of City Hall, as well as cutting the ribbon for the Mural.

The Mural is now hanging on display on the SaskTel building on Main Street.

Everyone who participated in the Mural project is thanked for their contribution to the cause.
