Bethany Pioneer Village is home for 100 residents in the Middle Lake area and they are doing a fundraiser to fix up the 57-year old building, entitled "Can You Hold The Door For Me?"

The entrance way to Birch manor is in need of some repair, the main doors need so work make it more accessible and safe for the residents.

Bethany Foundation Chair, Sharon Carter, gave us the details.

"The main door to the building is a hand held door, not automatic, and we really need some automatic doors there because we have people going in and out using canes, walkers, and wheelchairs and its rather awkward at times trying to go through those doors."

The doors are not the only issues they need to make a new larger concrete area for ambulance services and ease of access for people.

The second part of the project is better health care services.

Carter tells about this.

"Expand the doctors offices so we can add more health care services then what we already do."

The facility currently provides weekly doctor visits, lab work, and prescription delivery. They would like to upgrade to provide foot care and dental.

The price tag on these two major projects is not a cheap one, $170,000.00 is the estimated cost. They have no government funding as they are a non-profit organization they rely on grants and contributions from individuals and businesses.

Carter went on to explain that they have received one grant so far and have sent out a letter to all the business' that have helped them out in the past.

On Sunday August 13th Bethany with have their Bethany Day Celebrations and recognize those who have donated to the projects.
