Cole Koob and Kallin Kehrig, grade 12 students from Bruno School, participated in the Sask Polytechnic Robot Rumble for the fourth year a row.

The competition gets students to build a robot and have them fight other robots in round-robin matches to find an ultimate victor.

Koob and Kehrig have been using essentially the same robot for the last four years.

"Same design, different parts."

They built the robot from the ground up using the kit, including the circuitry.

The first year that the two were involved they were in the semi-finals. This year they placed in the top twelve.

Koob and Kehrig described the robot they used this year to past years bots.

"Same bot from the other years, base model, what you get it the kit." "It's a 10x10x10cm robot. We have a blade on the front of it and some motors on the back of it."

The robots are not allowed to have remotes as they are pre-programmed before getting into the fighting ring.

Both students have to thank their science teacher for getting them into the competition.

Education Minister Gordon Wyant and the Saskatchewan government is currently working on developing courses to teach students computer coding and robotic skills.

When Koob and Kehrig were asked if they would be interested in these classes if given the opportunity they both said "yes".

Both Koob and Kehrig graduate this year and plan to attend post-secondary school.
