The community of Bruno has a newly renovated kitchen at their hall.

Tuesday night they held a small celebration of the completion of the $50,000 in upgrades that includes a stove with venting, a new cooler, island, redone counter tops and fresh paint plus plumbing and electrical work.

Committee Chair Linda Bender stressed the work desperately needed to be done.

"Well, I'd have to say it was probably needed because nothing has been done in this hall since it was renovated in the 1970's. It was really needed."

They received $25,000 from the federal government through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, the town covered the other half.

Bender said for what they were working with the end result is a world of difference.

"A few things I would have liked to be a little different but when you renovate you do the best you've got with what you've got and yes, I'm happy."

About 15 people showed up for coffee and cake during the small celebration.
