Earlier this month, City Council approved a process to form the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee.

In December an informal meeting was held with one representative of the families involved in the crash, a member of the Broncos organization, along with the Mayor of Humboldt and city manager Joe Day.

The meeting was organized to get the committee kicked off in 2019 as the members of the committee have not yet been selected.

Once the new committee is formed, the first official meeting will take place in 2019. The goal of the committee is to erect a permanent memorial in Humboldt for the Humboldt Broncos.

"The one thing that was agreed upon was that this is going to take time, and we are in no hurry to make sure the families, the Broncos and the city are on board," said Humboldt's Mayor, Rob Muench.

There is no estimated time a memorial will be complete as the committee wishes to take their time so there are no mistakes made out of haste.

"It's going to take as long as it takes, it may be 2 years, 3 years, or longer depending on how things progress."
