Around $12,000 will be helping spread Christmas cheer in 2018.

The Humboldt Broncos, Humboldt & District Kinettes, and citizens of Humboldt came together for an auction on Sunday after the Broncos took on the Yorkton Terriers at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

Custom Christmas jerseys for the Broncos were auctioned off to the highest bidder. In the end, the $12,000 was raised and will go towards the Kinettes Christmas Cheer Campaign. This year, 52 families that struggle to make ends meet during the holiday season will be receiving hampers of food from the Humboldt & District Kinettes.

"This donation is important because it came from the community, not a grant. It came from the hearts of the community and it's heartwarming because of the things that have happened (in Humboldt) that we continue to give so much," said Kelly Soderholm, President of the Humboldt & District Kinettes.

In past years, the Kinnettes have had to ask for grants to supply families during this time of year, and some requests were declined.

"There were some years where we had to cut back because the funds just aren't there and we know now with the auction we can provide abundance to so many families that need it."

The hampers will be handed out December 16th.
