Darcy Haugan, who was the Head Coach of the Humboldt Broncos before he passed away in the April 6 bus crash, has been named a finalist for the Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award.

New to this year, the award will recognize an individual who has positively impacted their community, through hockey.

Haugan is one of three nominees to be named a finalist. The winner will be selected through a voting process, which is open to the public until June 1.

The winner will be revealed during the 2018 NHL awards in Las Vegas on June 20.
