Tuesday in front of a business lunch crowd at the Humboldt Golf Club, Broncos' President Jamie Brockman spoke about the teams' financial impact on the city.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League funded a financial analysis for each of the 12 clubs recently, what it found for Humboldt is the impact the team has each year is $1.3 million in spin offs.

That's one purpose behind Brockman's address, but he wasn't sugar coating the state of the club either.

"Things are tough, things are tight and we need help. That was basically the message, I wanted what the Humboldt Broncos bring to Humboldt and area and just state the point help is needed to keep this franchise going."

The help Brockman is pertaining to is mostly from a board level, he says they are running at about six people and they are getting burned out. He said they simply need bodies to help get ahead because the club can't be at the top all the time.

"The reality is we are not going to make the playoffs every year, as nice as it is to say we made the playoffs every year since the early 1980's and this year it's too bad that we didn't but the reality is we didn't. We need to be able to survive these downward times and again that was part of the message as well."

Brockman stated the largest issue in everyday operations is their board is simply to thin and they need people to step up and help in many aspects. Some crucial duties are simply helping to manage their $850,000 operating budget or provide some legal advice. He is fully committed to allowing someone to be a part of their volunteer team even if they don't particularly care about the game. It's more for the pride of keeping this team afloat in the community. Legal issues are something they also struggle with, none of the acting board members are lawyers or police officers who know the laws of everyday business, and forget about paying for that type of help at this level.

In the Summer of 2014 Brockman pleaded with the community that they needed more volunteers, that helped only for a short lived time period, he is again reaching out, for the good of the two time national championship squad.

"It was successful in the sense that we got some bodies. I am changing my plea this year, we need bodies that are going to be able to contribute because it takes execution to make all this stuff run and without the team is not going to run. It takes people, bottom line."

The speaking points weren't all doom and gloom for the organization, fundraising is up, the Lottery of Cash produced more of a profit than it did a year ago plus the board with some key outside help finally got their agricultural fundraiser off the ground but without the added support their momentum will eventually sputter out.

SJHL President Bill Chow made a point to visit the city and support the executive of the club.

"The Humboldt Broncos are almost a million dollar a year business in the City of Humboldt and that would be very similar for all the other teams within the league that they are very close to that operating budget . I think we have and we have started to look at it like a business, treat it like a business and run it like a business."

You can call Brockman at 306.921.8184 if you can provide any assistance to the organization.

The board is now diligently working on a new season ticket blitz that will launch in June that has some new exciting benefits for both the purchaser and local companies that will both see positive impacts. If any business would like to hear more about that sponsorship opportunity, you can also reach out to Brockman. More regarding that initiative will be released near the end of May.

You can hear more from both Brockman and Chow in their interviews with Bolt FM's Clark Stork below.
