Leigh Huslage figures April 20 will be the most emotional performance of his career.

His band, Broken Roads, will play a benefit concert for the Humboldt Broncos and their families and the Bella Vista Inn.

“Working in the community, when I worked for (Bolt FM), it’s a huge family and it’s just amazing to see how the community has come together so far, and I have no doubt it’s going to be one of my most emotional moments on stage and I don’t think it’ll ever be topped.”

The concert will start around 9 p.m. or 10 p.m., though people should arrive a couple hours early to get in, given the large turnout expected, said Huslage, who plays guitar and does backing vocals.

“It’s just going to be a night of music and trying to get the community together for an amazing cause.”

A raffle will be held in addition to donations at the door, he said.

The many fundraising efforts in the wake of Friday’s crash prove that the Humboldt community, and the country, are filled with amazing people who love to take care of each other, he said.

“Seeing this response to such a tragic event is heartwarming and bittersweet through all of this awfulness.”
