For its 39th year running in the Humboldt area, Bowl for Kid's Sake continues to be a well-attended function that raises funds to establish mentoring in the community.

Last weeks Bowl For Kid's Sake saw 21 teams participate, and all but one were made up from local businesses. Regardless of raising less than the yearly average, a grand total of $21,700 was raised.

Jodie Hergott is the Development Coordinator for BBBS in Humboldt. While she was happy with the turnout, she already has bigger hopes for next year's fundraiser.

"This year was a little bit below what we usually see brought in, however, we are still going to aim big for 2020 and work to match as many kids as we can until then."

Hergott also talked about how this fundraiser will support their organization and its operations, and what it means to see such great support from the community.

"This just allows us to take care of an already longstanding waiting list, I believe it's at about 16 or so now. It's great to get good support from the community because it helps us match a little faster and build more and more quality mentors."

Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt seeks out quality role models within the community to be matched with a "little", and they provide their little with encouragement and guidance throughout their young life.

Bowl For Kid's Sake is BBBS premier fundraising event and is a hit within Humboldt annually.
