Whether you are about to embark on a big adventure, or simply want that option, getting a passport was easily obtainable in Humboldt for two days.

Member of Parliament for Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek, Kelly Block, was in the city on Monday and Tuesday as she held her first passport clinic since becoming Humboldt's MP last October.

She says that the idea behind the clinic is to cut down the waiting time and the extra drive.

"We bring the service to the people. I've heard from many folks already, how glad they are that we are holding this passport clinic in Humboldt, so they don't have to drive into the city and take their chances with whatever lineup their might be at the office in Saskatoon."

Even if you aren't planning on travelling across the border in the immediate future, Block says that it is a good idea to get a passport, for when you 'never know'.

"I think it's always good to be prepared incase you do want to take that trip you haven't foreshadowed you were going to take," she explained. "It's great for identification purposes as well. We now offer a 10-year passport in addition to the 5-year passport, which I think is a good thing as well."

In 2013, the then Conservative government announced changes to the passport model that allowed citizens to apply for ten years, rather than have to apply and renew every fifth year.

Block says that the clinic serves a purpose for her as well, as she gets to say hello to faces in her riding.

"It's also a great opportunity for me to meet individuals who live in Humboldt and surrounding area, and that we are definitely going to replicate this across the riding."

Block took over as MP for Humboldt after the shuffling of riding zones prior to October's election, which she won by a large margin.
