The Humboldt Co-Operative Preschool presented its second annual Casino Night and Live/Silent Auction fundraising event Saturday, and this year there was a comedic twist.

After being impressed with his stand-up comedy, the planning committee commissioned Kevin McGrath to add to the fun this year.

The night of entertainment at the Bella Vista Inn began with cocktails, followed by a supper, stand-up comedy and casino play. Each ticket holder to the event was given $1000 play money to try their hand at the casino tables and had the opportunity to spend their winnings on raffle tickets for some of the prizes.

Registrar for the school, and planning committee member, Alison Berk-Johnston, says the school is grateful to all of the local businesses that donated prizes for the event and says it wouldn't be possible to raise significant funds without their help.

"We're very lucky to have such a great business community in Humboldt," says Berk-Johnston.

The funds raised from the night will be going towards day-to-day operations at the preschool, toy upgrades for the children and other expenses invoved in running the school in its new location.

Berk-Johnston says it was another successful turnout this year, despite the extreme cold temperatures affecting the area.

"It was really great to see everybody brave the cold and come out and support such a great event!'
