Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) held a pancake breakfast at St. Augustine's church on Sunday, and many volunteers, including three members of the HCI Student Action Squad, were there to serve up a warm meal.

Jodie Hergott of BBBS of Humboldt and Area says events like the pancake breakfast not only raise funds for programming but also expose the need for new volunteers within the organization.

"We're hoping this keeps us in the eye of the community. If they have any questions or comments, this is a great place to approach us and get those questions answered."

Hergott says BBBS paired up with Terry's No Frills for the first time this year for their pancake breakfast. All groceries were donated by the store and BBBS provided the venue and the volunteers.

The funds raised at the event will help with programming at the non-profit.

"We've got several different programs on the go and it helps us get those mentorship programs off their feet and flying and supporting all those kids in town that are in need."
