Smoke from ongoing wildfires in British Columbia has prompted Environment Canada to issue air quality advisories for parts of Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada says that smoke plumes are drifting into the province, albeit at a higher altitude.

Shortly after 10:00am on Monday, an advisory was issued for Humboldt and the immediate surrounding area. Advisories had previously been issued for Bruno, Colonsay, Viscount, Wakaw and Watrous.

Children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease are especially at risk.

Hazy conditions may continue for several days.
