Avengers young and old dressed to the nines and attended their athletic awards banquet last night in Middle Lake.

The Three Lakes School Avengers are celebrating two 1A Provincial Championships: Boys Soccer and Girls Basketball.

Teacher and Coach Trevor Otsig explains why the school holds the event every year.

"It's to recognize the achievements and hard work of the students throughout the year. Especially in the athletic department here, they put in a lot of time and effort in, so we just like to acknowledge their efforts on behalf of them, the parents and the school."

The athletes of the school were awarded for their outstanding athletic achievements over the school year.

Kirk Muyres, who plays for team Laycock on the World Curling Tour, spoke at the event.

His message to those in attendance was plain and simple.

"Just work hard. Find what you love, work hard at it, and make sure you give it all you have and good things will happen. Always works as hard as you can and like I said, success will roll in."

A total of 33 awards were handed out last night.

Student athlete and future U of S Huskies basketball player Rayna Olynuk won 4 awards at last nights event.

She describes the feeling of winning her awards.

"It feels awesome. I think it's awesome to be recognized for all the years I've been taken sports. I'm really impressed and happy that I am recognized for this. I wish other people would get more awards too, but I'm very grateful."
