No matter the effort and attention to detail given in planning a fundraising event, sometimes the weather conditions make things more challenging.
The fourth annual "Diva for a Day" Ladies Charity Golf Scramble took place Saturday at the Humboldt Golf Club, despite uncooperative, rainy skies.
"I can't mess with Mother Nature...she trumps me every time!" says Jodie Hergott, development coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Humboldt and Area with a smile.
Hergott and her team paired up with the Kinettes to host the event, and both non-profit groups will split the proceeds.
18 teams registered for the day of golf and activities.
Even if they weren't required on the soggy course, male volunteers in cowboy getups were still up for bids during a "Caddy Auction".
The theme for this year's tournament is "Rodeo Drive". Golfers were welcomed to interpret that theme in two different ways.
"Whether you come in your best cowboy gear or your high heels and sequins, it doesn't matter. We're just going to have fun with it!" says Hergott.
BBBS and the Kinettes would like to thank their local sponsors and the participating teams.
"It all goes back into their community, so that's worth celebrating alone," says Hergott.
