Update: Leisure Services says the issues have been rectified, and the Aquatic Centre is once again open for swimmers.

Mechanical issues at the Humboldt Aquatic Centre have forced a temporary closure of the pool on Wednesday morning.

Leisure Services Director Mike Ulriksen says that there is currently no estimated time as to when the pool will be back up and running.

"One of our pumps is acting up, so we're working on evaluating the issue, and if it is just a simple switching a pump in and out, we should be able to do that fairly quickly."

He says that if it is something that requires more attention they will update the public as they are able to.

For now, Ulriksen says that the pool will likely be off limits for a few hours.

"We cancelled some of the bookings for the rest of this morning until we can figure out a timeline."
