The northeast branch of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists held the ninth annual AgUpdate in Melfort last week.

"We're hoping one little nugget of information can help a guy make a little bit more money on his operation," SIA northeast branch president Curtis de Gooijer said.

This year, meteorologist Drew Lerner spoke on different weather patterns, Marlene Boersch gave an update on international factors that can affect the prices producers recieve, and Tom Wolfe spoke about pulse width modulation and sprayer technology.

de Gooijer was personally most intersted in Nicholas Larkan's presentaiton on blackleg resistance.

"There was just some really neat things I didn't know about how that particular disease is transferred, or how we can protect against it in our canola. Just the fundamentals on how that works because it is a pressing issue for us in the northeast where we have a large canola-growing area."
