Mayor Muench took time to acknowledge everyone affected, including the first responders, the local billet families and fans of the hockey team.

"These are parents welcoming players into our community and into their homes," stated Muench. "We had a number of families that considered these boys as part of their family as well, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the billet families and the actual families of these boys."

Counselors from across Saskatchewan have been set up at the Elgar Peterson Arena to help. Mayor Muench added that these services will continue for the weeks ahead, including within the schools.

"We have a number of counselors that are going to be in the school system on Monday morning, and I can't say enough about the job that they have done at the Uniplex so far," says Muench. "We've got extra people that are going to help tonight with the number of people that we are expecting for the vigil."

Mayor Muench also discussed the plans for Sunday night's vigil and the arrangements the city has made to accommodate the numbers expected.

"We're hoping that as a community, we are able to welcome everyone here and give some compassion to those that require it," expressed Muench.

His Worship also recognized the spirit of Humboldt citizens in the wake of this tragedy and thanked the rest of the province and nation for the convergence of assistance.

"I've been really busy fielding phone calls from virtually all over the world," stated Muench. "It's amazing, the support that people have been showing towards our team and towards our city."

"Just seeing the images last night with some of the NHL teams and they way that they've been showing their support towards the team has been amazing. And those kind of things help during a time like this, because we can never do these kind of things alone. So to have the support from the community and the extended community across the country has been amazing."
