As the Wynyard Bears get set to hit the field for their first playoff game, they are also taking the time to help give back to their community.

The team's annual tackle hunger game is set for Saturday afternoon as the Bears host Assiniboia in a league playoff matchup.

All donations of non-perishable food items, as well as gate admission will be donated to the food bank.

Last year, the campaign brought in over 850 pounds of food, as well as a donation of over $1,000 in cash.

A pregame barbecue is also being held Saturday at 12:30pm, with kickoff set for 2:00pm.

The Bears enter the game with a 5-0 record, and defeated Assiniboia 55-8 in their regular season meeting on September 15.

At halftime, the team will also make the draw on their progressive 50/50 jackpot, which will award a grand prize of $1,500, as well as second and third prizes of $900 and $600.
