The Wynyard Senior Girls Basketball team left with bronze around their necks at the 2019 Hoopla Provincial Tournament.

In the semifinals, the Wynyard Bears would look to claw for their fifth provincial gold in a row against Canora. Unfortunately, it wouldn't go the Bears' way with Canora taking the win 60-43.

"They definitely outplayed us. We missed a lot of shots we should have made, and it came down to who worked harder and it wasn't us, unfortunately," said Mary Latoski, forward for the Wynyard Bears.

The loss would force the Bears to compete for bronze in their second game of Hoopla against Maidstone. Wynyard appeared to be in a much better rhythm than the last game.

"We definitely played better in the second game. We were a little more prepared and all our nerves were calmed and we hit the court once already. So our legs were ready to go."

Wynyard would take the game, along with the bronze medal, 82-58. The team stated they were happy to end the season on a high note.

"We were a little disappointed losing the first game, but we were just excited to be there and come home with a medal around our necks."
